The World  Series of Beach Volleyball was held for a week in Long Beach.Senior Marisol Rendon and Sophomore Taylor Austin covered the event.The event is a way to bring together some of the world’s best beach volleyball players just days after the 2016 Rio Olympics .There were a series of games, musical events, and company propaganda.


Beach Volleyball fan Rico Mead (Taylor Austin)

Rico Mead is a beach volleyball fan and has attended the World Series of Beach Volleyball 3 years in a row.Why did you decide to come to this event? “I came because I love volleyball, and I get free stuff,” Mead said. Who are some volleyball stars that you have met?Some of the stars that I have met would be Phil Dalhausser, Jake Gibb, Casey Patterson, and Amber Ross.


NBC Sports Reporter John Stevhens (Taylor Austin)

We talked to NBC sports reporter John Stevhens.What is your favorite part of your job? “My favorite part is the traveling that I get to do,” Stevhens said.What are your favorite events to cover?My favorite sports events to cover would be football and sports where there is a lot of action.


April Ross with senior Marisol Rendon (Taylor Austin)

April Ross is an American professional beach volleyball player,She won a silver medal in the London Summer Olympics in 2012, a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, and gold in the 2016 World Series of Beach Volleyball.Ross said what encouraged her to take up beach volleyball was “my love of the game.”“Winning the bronze medal in Rio,” was Ross’s proudest moment.
