Now I know everyone loves all of their beauty products and I’m sure our bathrooms are covered in things that make us look and feel amazing. From our Bath & Body Works lotion to our beloved hair moisturizer we have it all. We spend tons of money on millions of different products when we can find something that does all in one.
Not many people would think that coconut oil would be a very useful product but apart from cooking, it is has a tremendous aid in the beauty world. I personally LOVE this product I use it every single day for multiple reasons. ” I use coconut oil everyday to do my hair ” says a City Honors junior. Instead of bombarding you with all of it’s awesomeness, I’ve narrowed my list down to just 6 ways to make coconut oil useful.
1. Hair moisturizer
Instead of picking up that bottle of shea moisture, you can always grab some coconut oil. Since coconut oil tends to change it’s form based on the weather, it can be a great way to moisturize on the go. It isn’t heavy; you can just rub it into your hands .
2. Hand “Lotion”
Though coconut oil doesn’t exactly look like lotion or feel like a lotion, it does have the moisturizing properties that lotion has and believe me it lasts WAY longer.
3. Lip Balm
You can use coconut oil to keep your lips from being super dry, especially in the weather that we have been encountering lately. I’m sure we all don’t want dry chapped lips. Quick DIY – put coconut oil in an old lip balm container and freeze it. Boom! You have your own homemade chap stick, and you can add essential oils for smell.
4. Makeup Remover
Instead of spending money on a pack of makeup removing wipes that will be gone in less than two weeks, invest in a container of coconut oil. Apply the oil to your face, then take a warm wash rag and clean the makeup off your face. Easy, right?!
5. Breath Freshener
Coconut oil has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that can kill bad breath germs. Gargling with coconut oil for 10-15 minutes (a.k.a oil pulling ) can help with fresher breath, whiter teeth, and healthier gums.
Apply this balm to your legs before shaving, and the end result will leave you with a closer shave and super soft legs. You can also add other ingredients for a DIY shave cream.
You never would’ve thought that one container of coconut oil would have so many uses, but hey stop by your local Whole Foods Market and get you a jar. Believe me, it’s worth it!
