The Struggle:

Have you ever heard of Kevin Hart? Of course you have, because he is KEVIN HART. Currently, he is an actor, comedian, writer, and producer but he was not always “all that.” He began to work, before his stardom, as a shoes sale man in North Philadelphia. Hart decided to quit his job to pursue his dream, to be a comedian. According to aframnews, he was influenced mostly by Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, and Jerry Seinfield; this became a conflict with his start-up of becoming a comedian. Biography.com says Kevin admitted to trying to be everybody, being confused, and not knowing what to do. In fact, at his first gig at the Laff House in Philadelphia as “Lil Kev The Bastard”, actually ended up terrible; he found himself being booed off the stage and also even getting a piece of chicken thrown at him.

The Come-Up:

“Invest in yourself. When you invest in yourself, you give a bigger effort. It’s all you on the line. You you you you YOU…” said Kevin Hart. It is not one bit ironic that he says this because this is exactly what he did. Kevin moved to New York City to pursue his career and started by attending several amateur comedy clubs/ competitions, and actually winning! During this journey, Keith Robinson guided the upcoming comic through this all. The television channel, ABC, decided to give Kevin Hart a big role in a sit-com, The Big House. This is when Hart’s journey really began to excel, all in his favor.

The Actual Success:

In 2002, Kevin got a role in the show Paper Soldiers, then in 2003, he had an appearance in Scary Movie 3, next in 2004, he was the star of the movie Soul Plane and lastly, he starred in “In The Mix” in 2005. In 2009, he got his first stand-up, I’m a Grown Little Man, produced as a comedy album. He had an appearance in The Little Fockers in the following year. Also, he got two more comedy albums produced and got a comedy tours in 2010 and 2011, Seriously Funny and Laugh at My Pain. In 2011, he also hosted the BET Awards then the 2012 MTV Music Awards. A role in Think Like A Man in 2012, Grudge Match in 2013, Ride Along and About Last Night in 2014, and recently Get Hard in 2015 all were taken on by him. Not to mention, in 2013 he got another stand-up movie produced which was Let Me Explain. Later, in 2015, Time Magazine listed him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Hart accomplished many MANY other things in his comedic career and this may be why he is currently the richest comedian. Outsiders, such as Forbes, believe Kevin Hart is so accomplished mainly because he knows how to balance business and entertainment. Others believe it is because he makes the most of social media, he doesn’t let fame get to his head, he still focuses on himself as a person/artist, he takes advice from other successful people, and he uses life experiences in his stand-up. “Here’s the good thing about Kevin Hart, I love to work and I’m successful by doing what I do best, making people laugh,” Kevin hart says.
