Why are high school students stressed out?
High school students are stressed out because of grades. So, students feel like the work becomes too much sometimes, and that is can be stressful. They work through it because, in college, the work only gets harder. Students are also stressed out because they may be having problems at home. Students are stressed socially because they may not have friends or get along with people in their class.
Students also get stressed from having to keep their grades up, and it maybe hard for them. For example, if a student is having problems at home, the problems can become stressful for them, which can cause their grades to drop.
Students are also stressed because they worry about if they are going to pass a class or not at the end of the semester, and that can be stressful because it may determine if they get the go on to the next grade or if they have to repeat a grade. For example, say if a student has to repeat a grade, they are back one year than the rest of their class.
I talked to a City Honors student about why they are stressed. Junior Brianna Rodriguez said, “They are stressed because of SAT and ACT. They are also stressed because of the pressure of becoming a senior and applying to colleges and the AP Test that we are about to take.”
