It’s important to take them because the SAT and ACT are the tests that can get you into college. Colleges and universities look at your grade point average and your test scores. Most colleges focus on both your test scores and your grades. Since there are other student applying to colleges, they have to compare which person has a better test score than the other person.

For example, the California State University system has an Eligibility Index that shows you what grade point average you’d need depending on your test score to be considered for admission. The higher your score and grade point average is , the higher chance you can get accepted to a college/university.

If you have taken the SAT or ACT, you should log in to www.collegeboard.org and click on your test score and see what you got for your math, English, and writing sections as well as your total score.

Devyn Nettles, a City Honors senior, said, “taking the SAT or ACT is important because most colleges require it. It’s good to take both because if you do good on one and do bad on the other one, you can submit the good score.
To apply for the SAT or ACT, you have to create a account for www.collegeboard.org and click on register for SAT or ACT. They will give you instructions on how to register.
