How do you celebrate Friday the 13th? Do you stay home? Not us! In the spirit of Halloween, City Honors celebrated this spooky night with a movie. At 6:30 pm students began arriving to watch the Oscar-nominated Get Out. Students outside the auditorium waited and bought from a variety of snacks, Red Vines, Twix, Caprisuns, and popcorn. Mr. Stanton and Ms. Smith were supervising and talking with students as the movie was getting ready to play.

Later, at 7 pm, students eagerly entered the auditorium and sat in the middle row. Soon afterwards the movie begins. “Oohs and ahhs” filled the auditorium when a funny scene happened or the main character was, in some way, injured or treated wrongly.
Throughout the movie, Ms. Smith walked around quietly and acted as a security or scaring frightened students. “It was a great turnout,” explains Teresa Sanchez, Junior president, as she explains the event in chronological order and expresses which part was her favorite. “I enjoyed watching people who hadn’t seen the movie before get scared at the end.”
Overall, movie night was a hit! Friday the 13th couldn’t have been a better day to spend with friends and to watch a scary movie!
