Senior year guys! Prom well soon come and we will be getting all dressed up with our fancy dresses, suits, makeup, etc. Where has time gone? Back when my mom went to prom it was so different from now.
Choosing a prom date
1990s prom: Asking someone to prom then wasn’t all about coming up with the biggest or cutest way to ask someone. They would basically just agree to go with someone and that will be it.
Prom now: During this time, prom proposal is a big thing and you don’t want to miss out on seeing someone get a prom proposal. It could either be a very creative or very expensive proposal. For example, a very cute proposal I saw was from a guy that got students at his school and organized a surprise for his girlfriend. Great Proposal!
Prom Outfits and Makeup
1990s Prom: Internet wasn’t so popular at this time so they couldn’t spend hours looking for the perfect outfit. They would just go shopping for the dress they liked.
Prom now: Pinterest has our back! Everyone is basically looking for the perfect or most popular outfit and makeup.
1990s Prom: Pictures were taken with cameras.
Prom now: Everyone has a smart phone now, so pictures would be much easier to take and easier to get a hold of.
1990s Prom: Music at prom is the most important thing. Back when my mom went to prom, their prom song was “Always and Forever” by Heatwave. Other popular songs were “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, and “Everything I Do I Do It for You” by Bryan Adams.
